Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Aero Engines, Ltd. (MHIAEL) is one of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) group companies established to strengthen its aircraft engine business to address the significantly growing commercial aviation demands. MHIAEL was established on October 1, 2014.
Our broad business portfolio currently includes the joint development and production of the Rolls-Royce Trent1000 engine for the Boeing 787 and the TrentXWB engine for the Airbus A350XWB, the Pratt & Whitney PurePower ®PW1100G-JM engine for the Airbus A320neo, and the Pratt & Whitney Canada PW210 engine for the Sikorsky S-76D and Leonardo (previously known as AgustaWestland) AW169. Maintenance, repair and overhaul services for commercial engines, which we are currently serving many airline operators worldwide, is also contributing in broadening our business portfolio. In the defense field, we are taking charge of designing, manufacturing and repairing engines, including the domestic developed TS1 engine mounted on the observation helicopter OH-1, contributing to the security of our country.
Specialized in the hot section engineering including combustor and turbine of aircraft jet engines, our unique technology and expertise in development, design, and manufacturing allows us to possess significantly important position in joint development and production of the world's most advanced fuel-efficient and eco-friendly jet engines with engine OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). While the commercial aviation market is expected to at least double in scale in the next 20 years, MHIAEL will remarkably expand its business scale at a pace faster than that of the market.
